ITAR-Registered Molding, 100% Domestic
Aerospace and defense programs depend on two things most commercial suppliers cannot provide on demand: a clean domestic supply chain and a documentation trail that holds up to an audit. Wise Plastics is registered with the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (ITAR), and every shot we run for defense work happens at our St. Charles and West Chicago, Illinois facilities — there is no offshore production, no offshore sub-tier, and no shipping route through a foreign port.
Our quality system was built from day one for documented, decoupled processes. That means each molded lot ships with material certifications, process records, and inspection data tied back to the work order — not assembled retroactively when a customer asks. For programs subject to flow-down requirements from primes, we maintain the controlled-access production areas, training records, and supplier quality discipline those flow-downs require.

Capabilities
Molding Capabilities
- ITAR-registered facility with controlled-access production areas
- 100% domestic supply chain — no offshore production or sub-tier risk
- Full material and lot traceability from resin receipt to shipped part
- High-temperature and engineering resins (PEEK, PEI, PPS, glass- and carbon-filled nylons)
- Insert molding for metal-in-plastic structural components, connectors, and threaded inserts
- Scientific molding with documented, decoupled processes and validated parameters
- First article inspection and capability studies to your submission requirements
- Customer and registrar audits passed routinely
Documentation Discipline That Survives an Audit
Defense programs do not fail because a part was out of spec; they fail because the paperwork cannot prove a part was in spec. Our quality system treats documentation as production output, not an afterthought. Every lot has its incoming material certification, scientific molding process record, in-process inspection data, and final dimensional report tied to the same traceable lot number. When a customer auditor asks for the back-up on a serial number from three years ago, we pull it.
We also hold ISO 9001:2015, which sits underneath our defense work as the baseline quality management system. Auditors find the same controls running across commercial, medical, and defense programs — there is no separate 'defense' quality system grafted on top of a looser commercial one.
Engineering Resins Built for Mission Profiles
Aerospace and defense parts often live at temperature, pressure, and chemical exposure extremes that commercial resins cannot survive. We routinely process PEEK, PEI (Ultem), PPS, LCP, and glass- and carbon-filled nylons — including drying, screw selection, and processing windows specific to each. For programs that need design-side help selecting a resin family or validating a part for mission environment, our engineering team supports material selection and DFM review before tooling is cut.
